This one-year, cohort-based program is dedicated to identifying exceptional leaders in the educational excellence and equity movement, fostering their growth, and bolstering their collective efforts to enhance public education, particularly for low-income children and communities.
“I am excited about this fellowship focused on further developing as a leader committed to equity and building opportunities for students,” said Dr. Garza. “I look forward to growing and learning from so many amazing leaders and working every day for the students who need us most.”
The Pahara Fellowship offers an unparalleled opportunity for leaders like Dr. Garza to step back from the daily demands of their work and engage in reflective dialogue with peers. Through this collaborative approach, fellows challenge traditional boundaries, cultivate innovative strategies, and accelerate the improvements necessary to ensure high-quality learning opportunities for all students nationwide.
“Teachers are the most important factor in our classrooms to ensure that our students are succeeding and seeing through to thriving lives,” said Garza. “We know that the teaching profession has a lot of complications. There’s a need to support both the policy and practices that are getting them into the classroom and keeping them there.”
This echoes Educate Texas’s steadfast commitment to creating sustainable systems changes that enable teacher preparation programs and school systems to cultivate a high-quality, diverse teacher workforce.
Dr. Garza’s participation in the Pahara Fellowship not only reflects her exemplary leadership but also amplifies Educate Texas’s dedication to fostering innovation, collaboration, and equity in education. As we continue to navigate the evolving landscape of education, we remain steadfast in our pursuit of empowering educators and ensuring every student has access to a world-class education.
Together, we can break down silos, spark meaningful dialogue, and drive transformative change in our classrooms and communities. Congratulations to Dr. Priscilla Aquino Garza on this well-deserved recognition, and we look forward to the collective impact she will undoubtedly make as a Pahara Fellow.
