2022 RGV Focus Scorecard

  • Graduating Class of 2023: FAFSA Completion
  • Graduating Class of 2022: STAAR 3rd Grade, Reading, STAAR 8th Grade Math
  • Entering Class of 2022: Kindergarten Enrollment, Public Higher Education Graduation Rate (2-Year), Public Higher Education Graduation Rate (4-Year)
  • Graduating Class of 2021: 4 Year High School Graduation Rate, College Ready Graduates, AP/Dual Credit Completion, Higher Education Immediate Enrollment Rate, Higher Education Graduates Employed/Enrolled (2-Year), Higher Education Graduates Employed/Enrolled (4-Year).

KINDERGARTEN READY: The percentage of kindergarteners assessed who were deemed “kindergarten ready” by a district chosen assessment. Texas Public Information Resource, 2022 Kindergarten Readiness report

STAAR 3RD GRADE READING: The percentage of third-grade students who met the “Meets Grade Level” standard (at least 76% of questions answered correctly) in the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) reading assessment.

STAAR 8TH GRADE MATH: The percentage of eighth-grade students who met the “Meets Grade Level” standard (at least 67% of questions answered correctly) in the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) mathematics assessment.

FOUR-YEAR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION RATE: The percentage of high school students who received their high school diploma in four years or fewer for the 2021 cohort. Texas Education Agency Texas Academic Performance Report.

FAFSA COMPLETION: The percentage of seniors from the high school graduating class of 2023 who completed a Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) as of March 2023 . US Department of Education.

COLLEGE-READY GRADUATES: The percentage of high school graduates that met or exceeded college-ready criteria on the Texas Success Initiative Assessment, the SAT, or the ACT, or completed a college-prep course. Note: In 2018, the TEA expanded the definition to include college-prep course completion. The metric is now called TSI Criteria by TEA. Texas Education Agency, Texas Academic Performance Report.

AP/DUAL CREDIT COMPLETION: The percentage of high school students (grades 9-12) who complete and receive credit for at least one advanced or dual credit course in the previous school year. Advanced courses include both Advanced Placement (AP) courses and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses. Texas Education Agency, Texas Academic Performance Report.

HIGHER EDUCATION IMMEDIATE ENROLLMENT RATE: The percentage of high school graduates from the class of 2021 who enrolled and began instruction at an institution of higher education (IHE) in Texas in the following fall semester. Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, “HS Graduates Enrolled in Higher Ed” report.

PUBLIC HIGHER EDUCATION GRADUATION RATE (TWO-YEAR): The percentage of first-time, full-time, credential-seeking undergraduates who graduated within three years. Degrees and certificates are included. Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Accountability System.

PUBLIC HIGHER EDUCATION GRADUATION RATE (FOUR-YEAR): The percentage of first-time, full-time, credential-seeking undergraduates who graduated within 4-years (from a four-year institution). Degrees and certificates are included. Note: This year the indicator has shifted to only include students from a 4-year IHE who graduated within 4 years because UT RGV only has data from four years back. HIGHER EDUCATION GRADUATES EMPLOYED OR ENROLLED (TWO-YEAR): The percentage of academic or technical graduates employed or placed in military service in the fourth quarter of the calendar year after graduation and/or enrolled in a Texas two-year institution of higher education (IHE) in the following fall after graduation. Note: Baseline is based on 2015 Cohort from UT RGV. Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Accountability System.

HIGHER EDUCATION GRADUATES EMPLOYED OR ENROLLED (FOUR-YEAR): The percentage of academic or technical graduates employed or placed in military service in the fourth quarter of the calendar year after graduation and/or enrolled in a Texas four-year institution of higher education (IHE) in the following fall after graduation. * Due to disruptions caused by COVID-19 in the 2019-2020 school year, STAAR testing indicators were not tracked by the Texas Education Agency.

* Due to the consolidation of 4-year institutions of higher education in the RGV, a 4-year standard baseline is not applicable.
