Practices for Equitable and Culturally Responsive Secondary Math Instruction
A memo mapping practice examples to research and literature on equitable and culturally responsive secondary math instruction
Colleagues from the University of Washington and the Network for School Improvement Community of Practice at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation wrote this memo to summarize the literature focused on racial equity-centered math instructional interventions and highlight effective practices aligned to the needs of Black, Latinx and students experiencing poverty.
These practices are sourced from a variety of NSIs (Networks for School Improvement) across the country and are a great resource for elevating promising practices, centering in the latest research, and identifying future partnerships and areas for collaboration.
Educate Texas, an initiative of Communities Foundation of Texas, is the trusted change agent in education that is thinking bigger by proving solutions through programs and practices, instilling change through policy, and convening the right partnerships and networks for action.
