Retail Management

This course is designed to provide students with a hands-on learning experience in the school store. Students will learn and apply the necessary skills of marketing, retailing and management to the operations of a school store. Students will examine the operation of an efficiently run school store and assume authentic on-the-job responsibilities. Students will become involved with all aspects of the operation which include: customer service, management, purchasing, inventory control, sales, cash handling, advertising, and merchandising. Students will be expected to participate in activities requiring additional time outside of class before, during, and after school. Students may compete in the School Based Enterprise certification event for DECA. Students may repeat this class. Prerequisite: 0.5 credit of business/marketing course and instructor approval.
