5 Practices for Orchestrating Productive Mathematics Discussions

Join Mary Davis of the University of Texas at Austin’s Dana Center for a series of learnings digging into the practices shared in NCTM’s book, “5 Practices for Orchestrating Mathematics Discussion.” Discourse is the mathematical communication that occurs in a classroom. During effective discourse, students construct their own mathematical understandings by articulating their own idea and seriously consider their peers’ mathematical perspectives.
